I love music. I'm sure you do too. One of my favorite things to do that has nothing to do with my professional side of photography is to shoot shows. I know, there are tons of photographers out there making a living from doing so. I however want no part of that life. I just want to enjoy the music, support the band, grab a camera of my choice and shoot the show. Afterwards I share these images with the band via e-mail or whatever. I give all for free. Why? To show my support.
Some of these bands are really good. I mean really good. They usually use these pictures on their sites or Facebook pages and such. Most give me props on their links. Thats cool. It's nice to be recognized for what you've done. Others however don't even acknowledge the fact. Which in turn is not cool because they still use the images. however bands like that usually end up no where and soon disband and fade away.
It has it's ups and downs. Theres tons of work that goes into the post processing but I believe it's worth it. If you put your back into it and strive to capture what others don't you will be very satisfied. It never gets old and even if I have shot a certain band before theres always something new.
If you interested in shooting shows get to a show. Start with the local bands at smaller local venues. My virtual homeboy Zack Arias has this saying " You got to start somewhere". Now go and support those local bands. Shoot something awesome!
